Before this whole mess begun, I lived with my wife and son in the better part of the city. I haven't seen them in a long time, I hope they are ok. I'm not doing so well, as you can see. Who needs football players during war? Nobody cares about sports when every day can be their last. So I scavenge the ruins like everyone else, hoping for the best.

–Pavle's Description

Overview[]

Pavle is one of the many playable characters found in the game. He was a star football player before the war. His wife and son managed to escape the city, and he hopes to survive for them.

Pavle is a Fast Runner, giving him the highest movement speed out of all characters.

Pavle's in-game appearance

Appearance[]

Pavle wears a brown jacket and shirt, as well as a pair of jeans. His left forearm seems to be bandaged. His face is obscured behind a bandana, possibly to conceal his identity as a famous athlete.

Personality[]

Pavle belongs to the Homie archetype. He spent his time as a known football player and possibly enjoyed wealth, but he never thought of himself as being above anyone else and absolutely loves aiding people, unlike some other privileged characters such as Bruno or Emilia.

Pavle has a great sense of community. He’s greatly sensitive to the needs of others around him, and is always happy to help those in need. He's easily depressed by his fellow survivors' distress, as well as atrocities committed against other civilians. However, he has an easier time brushing off crimes against dangerous individuals like bandits and soldiers, arguing that they're a threat to the community as a whole. If his mood is negative, he’s likely to lose sleep, possibly prompting another survivor to stay awake and console him. He will never rob the shelter when leaving.

If traumatized enough, he will permanently shift to the insensitive modifier. Pavle looks out for his fellow survivors first and foremost, and is more accepting to crimes, as well as more dismissive about NPCs’ misfortune, so long as it means his friends are safe and sound.

Strategy[]

Overall, Pavle can be considered a "jack-of-all-trades" character. Pavle is average in everything, combat, guarding, scavenging, comforting others and playing the guitar. In the absence of a specialist, he can make for a decent stand-in in any of these roles.

Pavle's high speed is beneficial both during scavenging and combat. He can be used to quickly raid an area overnight and stash all of the items looted into a single pile so it can be hauled easily the next time he arrives. He can easily bail out of dangerous locations if detected, provided the path to the exit is clear, even when severely wounded. He can be also used as the group's main attacker, due to his high speed especially while being content, well fed and had a two handed weapon drawn such as the Shotgun, Assault Rifle or the Scoped Assault Rifle. His best combat tactics are hit-and-run type. With his high speed, even if he is wounded, he has a better chance of out running hostiles to find a hiding spot for an easy backstab.

As Pavle's empathy is quite high, it is advised to prevent unethical actions, such as stealing from or murdering civilians, in his presence, even though his special talent may be geared towards them.

Recruitment Speech[]

A sniper almost got me... I thought I was a goner. I ran as fast as I could and that saved me, but it was a close call. I used to play on Pogoren football team, but war put an end to this. My wife and son are abroad, I hope to see them after the war. I have to make it. A boy should have a father. Can I stay here with you until then?

Death Note[]

It’s Pavle… At least his son survived. Should he be told that his father is dead? I’ll think about it later.

–Note on dead body

Character Story[]

  1. "All this shelling, sniper fire, and lack of supplies makes you want to hide away, sit down and cry. But we cannot let them crush our spirit, we have to show them that they can't take away our dignity. It's difficult here, but you know how we did it on our street?"
  2. "It was tough, but women living in our street took great care to look beautiful. They were always clean and wore their best clothes. That was a sight, I tell you. Lining up for water, they looked as if they were waiting to visit a theatre. And my boy came up with another idea."
  3. "You just can't lock kids inside with nothing to do. Life will find a way. So my boy formed a football team. They trained in a dark basement. They were so committed and came up with an idea to organize a Pogoren cup. We invited three other teams, but there was a significant problem we had to overcome."
  4. "The sports hall survived the shelling, but to get there we needed to cross the bridge under Graznia sniper fire. The Peacekeepers refused to help us with their armored transport, so we waited for a foggy night and just made a wild run for it. We made it safe. There weren't many spectators, but it was still the most memorable football cup of my life... My boy was so happy. Next day, my wife managed to escape with him abroad. I'll see them again when this is over."

Traumatized variants:[]

  1. All this shelling, sniper fire, and lack of supplies makes you want to hide away, sit down and cry. It's hopeless. When the buildings on my street were still standing, we were trying to preserve our dignity, but did we manage to?"
  2. "Women from our street took great care to look beautiful. They were always clean, wearing their best clothes, despite the terrible conditions. We tried so hard, but it was all in vain. Only kids still had some hope left... you know what my boy did?"
  3. "You just can't lock kids inside with nothing to do, so my boy formed a football team. It was heartbreaking to watch them train in a dark basement. They came up with an idea to organize a Pogoren cup. Even though I was terrified, we invited three other teams. We had a very serious problem to overcome."
  4. "The sports hall survived the shelling, but to get there we needed to cross the bridge under Grazni sniper fire. The Peacekeepers refused to help us with their armored transports, so one night we just made a wild run for it. We didn't make it. They were just kids! How can anyone shoot at kids? Next day, my wife took him abroad. She was furious. I don't think I'll ever see them again."

Trivia[]

  • Pavle can still run faster than other characters when wounded.
  • While out scavenging, if Pavle is well fed and content, he can still outrun enemies (thugs/soldiers) in straight paths, even when lethally wounded. Drops and gaps where a small jump is required will be slower, giving others a chance to catch up unless there's enough distance between him and hostiles.
  • Pavle can play guitar well.
