“ | I was on holiday when the siege began. I had met an interesting man on the Internet and after several months of chatting I decided to accept his invitation to visit him. He showed me around Pogoren. I was anxious why so many people were leaving. There was an ominous aura over the city. However, I was assured that there was nothing to worry about. Nobody here wanted war and they would never allow it to break out. But it did. I tried to flee the city but it was already too late. | ” |
–Computer Specialist bio |
The computer specialist can be selected when setting up a custom game. The player is allowed to choose the gender of the character, name, in-game appearance, and character picture- either from a small library of included pictures or from a user-supplied picture placed in the Documents/This War of Mine/Portraits folder. The character's biography will slightly change based upon the gender chosen.

Advantages[]
WARNING : A recent update seems to have reworked the Computer Specialist and thus every thing marked 'Obsolete' may not be true with an up-to-date game. This update makes the Computer Specialist way less effective than he once was, totally annihilating its earlier overpoweredness.
The old version of the Computer Specialist trait, 'Knack for Electronics', allowed him/her to craft any item or Workshop that requires Electric Parts with 40% fewer components. Examples included the Radio, Advanced Workshop, Thermo Regulator and Heat Lamp.
The Computer Specialist's (only) new advantage is to craft two Thermo Regulator, Mixer & Heat Lamp for the price of one. It still takes one hour per item. So, without using more Electric Parts, the character creates double the amount of said items, but without saving any time.
